Frequently asked questions.
When is the Southeast Market in FDR Park open?
The first day of the Market for 2024 is Saturday May 4th. The Market is open Saturdays and Sundays.
We’re closed for Broad Street Run and all Eagles home games. Occasionally 5K Runs (which are scheduled independently from the Market) take place in FDR Park limiting car entry for both vendors and visitors. In this case we delay the Market opening hours. Please check our social media channels on Facebook and Instagram for delay dates and times.
3-day weekends this year include Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Market will extend business hours to include that following Monday, however individual vendor availability may vary:
The last day of the Market this year will be Saturday November 2nd 2024.
What are the hours?
The Market hours of operation are 10AM to 6PM.
In the Summertime when the sun sets later, some vendors may also vend past 6PM, if they have enough available inventory.
If it’s raining how do I know if the Market is open?
The Market is open rain or shine. Only in the case of a severe weather forecast such as a thunderstorm that can affect flooding, FDR Park will make the final decision of keeping the Park open or closed, and any announcements anticipating delays or closures will be made by 5PM on the preceding day with final updates by 8AM on the morning of. Please keep in mind, the weather may also affect some vendors who will decide on their own to show up (for example if they sell silk or wood that can be easily damaged by water). To check if the Market is open or closed on a particular day, check our social media channels.
Where is the Southeast Market in FDR Park located?
The Market has 2 locations categorized by 2 seasons. Season 1 is from April to June, and is found near the Broad Street exit (Picnic Area 17). Season 2 runs from July to October and is found near the Taney Baseball field (Picnic Area 11). To see their locations within FDR Park, click here.
How do I get to FDR Park?
The address for FDR Park is 1500 Pattison Avenue & S. Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19145. There are 3 entrances for cars, one on Pattison Avenue, the other on Pattinson Avenue at 20th Street and the third on Broad Street near the I95/Naval Yard intersection. Septa is Philadelphia’s public transportation, and southbound Broad Street/Orange Line train to NRG Station which lets out at Broad and Pattinson is the closest stop. By bus you can take the southbound 45 Bus which lets out at Packer Avenue and Broad Street with an additional 11 minute walk. The Navy Yard Express Shuttle lets off at League Island Boulevard & Crescent Drive with an additional 6 minute walk. The Park is accessible by foot along both the Broad Street and Pattison Avenue perimeters.
Where can I find parking?
Parking is available at various parking lots located throughout FDR Park. Parking is also available along the right side of the driving loop within the Park. Please do not park on the left side of the loop that is reserved for the biking lane (any cars stopped here will be fined and ticketed by Philadelphia Parking Authority). The parking lot located closest to the Market are reserved for Vendors and cars with handicap placards. During Season 2 we highly suggest parking underneath the I-95 highway underpass when nearby lots and right side lanes are full. It is illegal to park on the grass or any unpaved areas - any cars left unattended in these areas will be fined by Philadelphia Parking Authority.
Please note, during the Eagles games at Lincoln Financial Stadium in which FDR Park will be charging an entry fee, the Market will not be in operation during these days.
Is there a list or map of vendors & what they’re selling?
Yes. Click here for the map and 2024 list of vendors. At the Market there’s also a QR Code to scan this map and list at the Managers table as well.
Do any vendors accept credit cards or Venmo, or Cashapp?
While some vendors have adapted mobile-to-mobile payment apps, we strongly suggest you bring cash as internet service is not reliable in the Park. There is no ATM located in FDR Park at either the FDR Clubhouse nor the Swedish Museum.
What if I buy something and decide I don’t want it anymore? Is there a return policy?
The Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park operates as a seasonally independent outdoor market with each vendor working off of their own transaction policies. Please communicate with vendors beforehand if you are unsure of committing to a purchase, otherwise all sales are considered final. The Southeast Market, Vendors Association of FDR Park and FDR Park will not be responsible for unwanted goods purchased after the fact.
Why have the prices of some items I have purchased in the past gone up or down?
The prices for merchandise is set by the vendors at their own discretion. The Market, Vendors Association of FDR Park and FDR Park do not have a say in how much things cost.
If I have a dietary restriction or food allergy, do vendors list their ingredients anywhere? How do I know if an ingredient I am avoiding is in any of the foods at the Market?
Food vendors may not have the capacity to list ingredients. We suggest exercising with caution when trying new foods, and communicate with food vendors of specific things you must avoid for dietary reasons (please do not ask vendors to share their entire recipe ingredient list).
In case of food allergy-related emergency please ask the Market Manager (table located by Yellow Flags) for help seeking a Park Ranger, FDR Park Staff person, or go the FDR Community Clubhouse, or call 911.
Can I buy food at the Market and picnic somewhere else in the Park?
Of course! The entire FDR Park green space is for the public to enjoy. In addition to the picnic areas there are trails for walking and looking at nature. We ask that you follows the rules of the Park and throw away trash in trash cans, cool down charcoal before disposing into trash (do not dump into the bushes, or any of the lakes — most charcoal is not biodegradable due to the added chemicals in commercial bags). FDR Park does not have formal recycling in place yet, but is working on a system at the moment.
Do I have to bring my own bag to the Market?
Philadelphia’s plastic bag ban is in effect and Vendors have been notified to offer customers bags made of either paper or compostable material, or reusable and recyclable bags. Exceptions will be made for individually packaged produce in smaller plastic bags. You may bring your own bags from home for use, however please remember to discard in the trash if you will not be reusing them.
The Market is currently looking to provide reusable bags with suggested donations pending availability. Please check at our Market Manager’s table (near the Yellow Flags) for more details.
Are there bathrooms nearby?
There are porta-potties on-site for Market customers, with additional porta-potties stationed along the driving loop of FDR Park. Bathrooms can also be found in two locations: Richie Ashburn Fields (southern end of the park, adjacent to I-95) open during all Park hours, and at the FDR Community Clubhouse (near 20th Street Entrance first lot on the right) open Saturday & Sunday from 10AM-4PM.
Are dogs allowed in the Market area?
Per Philadelphia Parks and Rec policy: “You may walk your dog anywhere on Parks & Rec property on a leash of 6 feet or less, unless specifically posted as an animal-free area.”
Is there a Lost and Found?
