Frequently asked questions.
What is the Vendors Association of FDR Park?
An organization of FDR Park Vendors committed to the continued legacy of immigrant food vending at FDR Park, and to the cleanliness and improvement of this important public space. The Vendors Association Board currently oversees the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park while supporting its entrepreneurial development. In the future, the Association and Board may include all markets conducting business at FDR Park.
How do I become a Vendor at the Southeast Asian Market in FDR Park?
FDR Park has communicated with us that the Southeast Asian Market has reached capacity for vending spots. This means we cannot accept any new applicants who wish to sell as a full-season vendor at the Market. At this time we can only offer Pop-up Vendor spots for either a one day reservation or a two-day reservation.
To become a Pop-up vendor at the Southeast Asian Market, you must complete the required training taken by all members of the Vendors Association of FDR Park of keeping space and maintaining the cleanliness of the Park and pay the appropriate vending fee (you cannot vend if you have not done any of these steps).
What is a Pop-up Vendor?
We offer a pop-up space for Vendors to sell for one day (Saturday or Sunday) or two days consecutively (Saturday and Sunday). This is a great opportunity for sellers who are new to the Market or have specific merchandise that’s only available for a limited time. Pop-up vendors must still register and complete the same training as our full-season Vendors. We strongly recommend applying at least four (4) weeks in advance before your preferred date of vending to ensure adequate time for Market staff to go over the training with you.
How long does the whole process take?
After completing the online survey and registration, reviewing the Vendors handbook and waste disposal training with Southeast Asian Market staff, and paying the Vendor fees, the entire process can take a couple days up to a few weeks, depending on training schedules and your preferred date to vend.
Pop-up training dates take place once a month and you will be scheduled in by SEA Market Staff once they have received your registration.
What is provided for me as a Pop-up Vendor?
We offer a vending space of 10 feet x 10 feet (Spring Season) or 10 feet x 20 feet (Summer Season). Tables, tents, signage and all other supplies will be the responsibility of each Pop-up vendor. Promotion for your day of vending will also be your responsibility, we do not publish pop-up flyers on our social media channels, however we may document your activity to include in our highlights of the day.
Only one car is allowed per Vendor to unload/load vending materials on the day of your scheduled pop-up, which will be communicated to FDR Parking Staff by SEA Market Staff ahead of time. Any other vehicles will need to be parked in the allocated spots for Park visitors.
I have a company that provides services, can I vend at this FDR Market?
If your services fit the needs of the Southeast Asian immigrant and refugee communities, you may apply to be a pop-up vendor and the same rules apply.
Are there discounts for non-profits who want a host a table for a day?
Non-profit organizations who wish to provide a community service (information brochures, registering to vote, language assistance with utility bills, etc) will be allowed a pop-up spot (pending availability dates) and waived the pop-up vendor fee, however they must provide proof of Tax-Exempt status (EIN Number), and this process will be managed by the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia. Organizations wishing to fundraise through selling merchandise or a ticketed event will be treated as a regular pop-up vendor and charged the regular fee.
